In addition, our free Your Practice mobile app gives you quick access to helpful medical content, emergency information, and important contact numbers—right from your smartphone.

Portal access can be requested through our online sign-up form, and the mobile app can be downloaded anytime from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Stay connected wherever you go!

Measles Updates

Measles often begins with fever (over 101), cough, runny nose, and red eyes. After a few days of fever, a rash may appear, usually starting on the face and spreading downward.

Under routine circumstances, the MMR vaccine is recommended at 12 months, with a second dose given starting at 4 years of age. If local measles activity increases, we will share any updated guidance in coordination with the local health department.

If you’re concerned your child may have symptoms consistent with measles or has had a known exposure, please call our office. This allows our team to thoughtfully triage your child’s visit and help limit potential exposure to others.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Thomas Helms, DO, to our family at Lincoln Pediatric Group!⁠
⁠
Dr. Thomas Helms originally hails from Tucson, Arizona, but now considers himself to be an "adopted Midwesterner". He received his bachelor's degree from Ave Maria University in Florida before moving to the Midwest for medical school where he received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He then moved to Nebraska where he completed his pediatric residency training through the combined program of University of Nebraska Medical Center, Creighton University, and Children's Nebraska in June of 2024. As a pediatrician, Dr. Helms is passionate about providing medical care that is holistic, evidence-based, and compassionate..⁠

He and his wife, Sidney, have two young boys (David and Jonathan) and they are happy to call Nebraska home. Outside of work, he enjoys lap swimming, playing tennis and pickleball, reading, experimenting with meats on his Traeger, being involved with his church, watching football, and ultimately spending time with his family and friends.⁠

She brings her calm, caring, and thoughtful personality, along with the experience and knowledge she has gained as a resident and servant leader throughout her education. We are excited to announce we have added Dr. Rachel Schmitt, MD to the LPG family! Dr. Schmitt grew up in Lincoln, attended Southeast High School (Go Knights!) and receive her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan. She studied medicine at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and finished her Pediatric Residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital in June of 2023. Fun fact, Dr. Schmitt has a twin brother that is also a physician. In her spare time, she enjoys classic films, traveling and reading.

For urgent questions after office hours, you may call this number to speak with a nurse. They will give advice based on your child’s symptoms and contact one of our physicians if necessary. For non-urgent concerns after-hours, please call our office the next day to have your question addressed. We also encourage you to utilize the symptom checker that can be found on our homepage.

Medical Grade Ear Piercing

We are happy to offer this fun service to our patients!

We use the Blomdahl System for medical grade ear piercing. We recommend ear piercing occur after 3 months old. Waiting until children are 3 months old ensures that they have had their first set of vaccines and allows the ear to grow big enough to allow for accurate placing of the earring. We want to make sure that this elective procedure carries as little risk to your child as possible. For FAQ, please click here.

We do ear piercing by appointment. We can add onto another scheduled visit only if time allows, please call ahead to ask about availability if you desire to do this.

We charge $96 to pierce up to 2 ears. This price includes the hypoallergenic plastic piercing studs and aftercare supplies. If you desire additional piercings, please inquire about pricing at the time you book your appointment.
